Presentation Day 2018

Thanks to all the wonderful Cobras players, familes and supporters who came together to celebrate our 2018 Season. It was fantastic to listen to the Coaches speak about each player and see the smiles on their faces as they collected their trophies. We cannot wait to see you all again for Season 2019.

Under 12 Greens Premiers for 2018 - Canterbury Cobras

September 2 - Grand Final Day

Our Cobras Under 12 Girls have capped off an amazing first season with a Premiership on Sunday morning against the Doncaster Cats. The Cobras ran out winners by 30 points at Macleod Park. A four goal to nothing third quarter set up the Premiership for the Cobras. Despite a spirited final term from Doncaster, they could not challenge the girls who had the score on the board. It was Canterbury's 3rd win over Doncaster in 2018.

Cobras      7. 4-46
Doncaster 2. 4-16

Goal kickers, Wotherspoon 3, Wapshott 2, Halliday 1, Dimattina 1

Earning the Best on the Ground in the Grand Final Medal was Elizabeth Wotherspoon for her three goals and what the umpire described as a great performance in the centre and forward line. In presenting each player with their premiership medal, Coach Peter Scott highlighted the hard work and commitment that has gone into establishing Girls Footy at Canterbury JFC in 2018.

Congratulations to all the girls on this historic victory, our first ever Girls Premiership. A big thank you to all the parents, in particular coach Peter Scott, Assistant Coach Cam Bain and Team Manager Lorin Shand.

A big thanks to all the Cobras families who came to add their voices and support. We look forward to flying the flag during our Presentation Day on Sunday.

August 26 - Week 2

Our Under 14 boys were defeated in their Preliminary Final clash with Preston Bullants on Sunday the 26th at Templestowe Reserve.

Final scores

Bullants 14.9-93 defeated Canterbury Cobras 8.7-55 in the knock out final.

Goal kickers, Sestan 3, C Lynch 2 and singles to L Ross, K Vitacca and J Gozemel

A big congratulations to the whole team for their 2018 season and whilst yesterday was a disappointing result I am sure they will remember the season under coach Rocky Vitacca as a great one in the years to come. To all the parents that helped support Team Manager Donna Ingpen, a big thanks. See you at the Presentation Day on September 9th.

August 19 - Week 1

What a fantastic Sunday afternoon for our 2 Cobras teams competing in finals in 2018. At Lynden Park, Camberwell our Under 12 Girls won their way through to the Grand Final. They led all day, extending their lead against Fitzroy in each term. The Under 12 Girls go straight through to a Grand Final against the winner of Sunday's loser Fitzroy and Doncaster, who play off in the Preliminary Final this coming Sunday.

Goal kickers, Beaconsfield 2, Wapshott 2, Dimattina 1 in another fantastic team effort.

The Grand Final is currently scheduled for 11.30 am on September 2nd, TeamApp will have all the details once the fixture is locked in.

Our Under 14 Boys also won their Semi Final 1 against Bulleen Templestowe  at Binnak Park in Bundoora. From all reports it was a great game that saw the Cobras run away with the game by 38 points.

Goal kickers, Martin and Sestan kicked 2 goals each with Smith, Ross, Burns, Lynch, Vitacca and Gomezel all kicking singles in a great team effort.

The Cobras U14s now play the Preston Bullants next Sunday, August 26th at 12.30PM at Templestowe Reserve, Porter Street, Templestowe (near Fitzsimons Lane) for their chance to play off in the Grand Final on September 2.

Keep your eyes on TeamApp for full fixture details and get along to support our Cobras boys and girls.
